I Went to Norway to the Wedding of my very dearest friends. They share my great love of all things good: tea, and sunshine, adventures, beautiful old things, and lovely food. I made them Eggs Benny with browned butter hollandaise.

Welcome to The Pepper Grind

My approach to food is that of a sensualist, that is, a bit emotional and somewhat impressionistic. I take photos to validate my own sense of accomplishment, but as they are starting to accumulate. I like taking the pictures almost as much as I like making the food, this often annoys my boyfriend who is waiting to tuck in...

My father is an unconventional cook who gave me his appetite for variety. I distinctly remember his glee that my five year old self would regularly reply to the favorite food query with "octopus". I may provide some recipes for my food, but most of it is made on the fly. I get inspired by combinations of ingredients textures and flavors, and how they all come together is often a bit unexpected.

I use an old Nikon FE to shoot my photos, on 35 mil film. I love the analogue sound of records, and the analogue look of “real” film. As a rule I like my meals made from whole food ingredients but I am not above the novelty of a jiffy pop. Pending Allergy tests I am currently not eating wheat.

I will start with a bit of a backlog of previous favorites.
Hope you enjoy the show.
